Oscar and Jo

Mother and son team, Jo and Oscar Allan, are taking up the challenge at the Woburn Abbey triathlon in 2019. Mum Jo is looking to complete her first ever Olympic triathlon whilst Oscar will be competing in the kids Scootathlon.

When asked why she chose the Woburn Abbey triathlon Jo said “it’s a beautiful location and it has charity places. There are also kids’ events which means Oscar can get involved and make it a family occasion and he feels like he’s achieved something too. It’s very important for me to be a role model for my boy!”

Between them they have set a fundraising target of £750 and are raising money for tri for life, who over the last 12 years have raised £2.5 million for many charities including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Teenage Cancer Trust, Rays of Sunshine and many more.

Jo and Oscar will be organising bake sales and book swaps to help them reach their fundraising target. And Oscar is looking forward to getting his football club involved in fundraising.

“Although this is most definitely a personal challenge, it is also good to be able to make a difference to others if I can. I also want to do some fundraising with Oscar to teach him the values that I have and get him involved in helping others. So, if you’re reading this, why not get involved – what have you got to lose? Achieve something for yourself and help others too.” – Jo Allan.
