5KM & 10KM return for second year
Returning for the second year, the iconic Woburn Abbey Triathlon is set to hold 5km and 10km fun runs taking place on Saturday 5 September, to encourage friends and families to be part of the triathlon fun and get active together.
First launched in 2019, the 5km and 10km fun runs were introduced to encourage triathletes’ family and friends to join in with the triathlon action without having to get into a wetsuit or jump on a bike. The event is open to ages as young as 8 years for the 5km run and 14 years for the 10km run, encouraging the whole family to get active and take part together.
The run starts from the triathlon finish line at the event village, taking participants down into the vista of greenery that is Woburn Abbey’s park land. Participants will pass the lakes before heading out into the Duke’s private garden, giving participants exclusive access to the Evergreens which is usually closed to the public.
The 5km run is a fun, family event open to children and adults (8+ years), and just one lap of the scenic route through Woburn Abbey’s park land. The 10km run is a more challenging event, encompassing two laps of the 5km route.
“We are pleased to see the return of the 5km and 10km runs at Woburn Abbey Triathlon,” comments Marcus Anselm, co-founder, tri for life. “It is a real testament to the growth of the event, and our mission to expand the Woburn Abbey Triathlon to get more families fit and active together. We hope the event inspires more people to get involved in triathlon, raise vital funds for charity, and maybe come back next year as a triathlete!”
tri for life was founded in 2007 with a simple ambition – to provide a multisport event for participants and their families, and to raise money for charity. Since then, the event has raised close to £2.5million for good causes up and down the country.
